More than 87 per cent or over 8,800 students have passed the class twelve main exams this time. Meanwhile, almost twelve thousand students constituting almost eighty per cent have passed the class eight main exams. The Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment announced the exam results today.
In the Bhutan Higher Secondary Education Certificate examinations, more than 10,200 candidates from 81 Higher Secondary Schools registered for the exams.
Of that, over 10,100 sat for the exams and only a little over 8800 students passed the examination.
In the arts stream, Sonam Tshoki Dolkar from Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School topped the stream with 90 per cent.
“After I heard the news of being the national topper, I must say I am humbled, relieved as well that the collective hard work of myself, my teachers and the support I got from my family paid off. I would like to thank (my) school and my teachers for their guidance, and my family for the support.”
Gelley Jamtsho from Ugyen Academy topped the science stream with 90.50 per cent.
“Looking at the result today, I am very happy. First of all, I want to thank Kenchosum and my parents and teachers from my school, Ugyen Academy. Moreover, I want to thank (my) teachers from Khuruthang Middle Secondary School where I studied when I was younger.”
In the commerce stream, Karma Sonam from Desi High School stood first with 87.50 per cent.
“I am absolutely elated and overwhelmed with the profound sense of accomplishment upon learning that I have secured the first position in the national. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family and teachers of Desi High School for their Unwavering support and guidance.”
The pass percentage stands at 87.09 per cent which is a decrease of 0.71 per cent compared to 2022.
In the Language and Culture Studies Certificate Class 12 examination, a total of 167 students sat for the exam and 165 passed the exam. The topper Ugyen Penjor said his hard work has been rewarded and thanked his teachers, staff, friends and his parents.
The class eight results were also announced today. Somwang Tshering Palden from the Royal Academy came first.
From almost 15,000 students, more than 11,800 students passed the exams. The overall pass percentage is 79.55 per cent which is an increase of 23.17 per cent compared to the previous year.
