Next time you want to apply for a loan from the Bank of Bhutan, you could do it without actually going to the bank. Or you could even do payments and transactions even without owning a bank account. Taking banking services to a new height, the bank launched two additional services today, coinciding with the 66th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
The conventional way of getting a loan requires a client to visit the bank at least three times. However, with the eLoan App, availing loans has become much easier.
“Customers will have access to apply online either through mBoB, which is linked under loans and card, and also through BoB website. When we enable this kind of service, it will ease the lives of our clients. So that they can apply from home or from any place even while they are relaxing,” said the bank’s Chief Executive Officer Dorji Kadin.
The eLoan can be approved within two working days. Similarly, unlike mBoB app, goBoB will provide easy access to various features such as balance inquiry, bank statement, deposits, withdrawals and transfers, payments, and mobile top-ups without requiring a bank account.
“Be it B-mobile or T-Cell number, goBoB is even eligible to children above 10 years who has valid mobile numbers. With goBoB tourists visiting Bhutan can add money from their cards be it visa card, be it master cards, and then use that to buy and make payments across all merchants,” said the CEO.
And to top up the goBoB balance, a user can deposit the money into the account either from a bank or ATM.
Through the services, the bank aims to achieve greater financial inclusion, promote cashless transactions and- bring every citizen into the financial ecosystem.
Established in 1968, the bank today caters to various financial services through a network of 55 branch offices across the country.
