Most of the automobile workshops in Samdrup Jongkhar are closed down after the government announced restrictions on incoming non-Bhutanese to the country. The workers in the workshops are mostly Indian living across the border.
The owners said they are willing to keep the workshops closed until the situation of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) improves in the region.
Moreover, it is difficult for the owners to get Bhutanese mechanics to work in the workshops. And the usual noisy with loud clang filled workshops are all lying idle without any works today.
Meanwhile, after the directives from the government to close all the points of entry to the country yesterday, Samdrup Jongkhar town has become quiet and empty with the people in the town resorting to physical distancing.
The Dzongkhag has quarantined 42 people till now. And the Dzongkhag Administration has also advocated Dos and Don’ts surrounding the COVID-19 in all the 11 gewogs.
