A week-long Jana Chidey Kurim began from today at the Pangrizampa School of Astrology in the capital. It is being presided over by the former Dorji Lopen Sangay Dorji with more than 160 monks.
The Kurim is being performed for the well-being of all sentient beings and for the peace and prosperity in the country. It is an annual event.
Meanwhile, the Tsugla Lopen Samten Dorji of Central Monastic Body is presiding over a Dem-Bum recitation at Dechenphodrang monastery.
About 260 monks are performing the recitation daily. The nine-day programme will end on Tuesday.
