The Phuentshogling police are investigating sexual harassment allegations against an assistant professor of the College of Science and Technology. Last month, the Royal University of Bhutan forwarded the case to the police immediately after the college informed the university.
Nine female students of the College of Science and Technology accused the assistant professor of sexually harassing them. They complained to the counselling and support group of the college. According to the president, the college received the complaint early last month. Police said the assistant professor is accused of inappropriate touching and using obscene language.
The president said that the assistant professor has been suspended as per the sexual harassment protocol of the college. The suspect has been with the college for the last 30 years.
Meanwhile, according to the police, some of the complainants are in Thimphu and therefore Thimphu police are helping with the investigations.
