A first-ever song based on the country’s developmental philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH) was launched at Trongsa Dzong yesterday.
Composed by Khenpo Jangsem Tashi from Trashigang, the song is an expression of appreciation for the concept of GNH as the core paradigm of development in Bhutan.
In an interview with BBS News, Khenpo Jangsem Tashi, said it took him five months to pen down the lyrics.
“The song lyrics are written based on the history and modernisation of our country. It has elements of spirituality as well as good governance.”
The song can be performed at various occasions (religious rituals, tshechus and other national events), adds the composer.
He also hopes the song would instill GNH values in Bhutanese people from all walks of life.
Khenpo Jangsem Tashi studied Buddhist Philosophy from Mysore in India.
