A children’s book “Who is Responsible?” was launched in the capital, yesterday. It is the second children’s book published by Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy (BCMD).
The book addresses and discusses democratic concepts like fairness and voting.
BCMD’s Executive Director, Sok Sain Pek Dorji, said the idea for the book was inspired by some of their work with young people on the responsibilities as a citizen.“Sometimes in Bhutan we are so reliant on somebody else to come and tend to our knees, we tend to look to our parents, teachers, to our elective leaders and to government to do everything for us,” she said. “This is in a way an example of how we as a citizen should also try to be little more creative and be a little more active.”
The copies of the book have been distributed to Non-Formal Education Centre and schools. It is available in all the Public Library.
