An exhibition of the folk foods of Bhutan opened at the Folk Heritage Museum in Thimphu today. The opening was graced by Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness the Princess, Sonam Dechan Wangchuck. More than 50 different cuisines were displayed.
The exhibition will last for a month. Meanwhile a Folk Heritage Restaurant was also inaugurated at the museum.
The establishment of the restaurant will revive some of the old forgotten foods of Bhutan like home-cooked meals in earthen pots.
The restaurant will link the past with the present through food and the way of life.
