Four men have been detained by the Monggar police for harvesting marijuana. They were caught red-handed at Murungdang under Shermung Geog in Monggar. The arrest was made following a tip-off.
Rolls of marijuana, hashish, were confiscated by the Monggar police from them. The men, all addicts, confessed to the crime.
They said they had travelled all the way from Punakha to harvest the plant. They also added the plants were not matured to be harvested in other parts of the country and had come to Monggar to harvest.
The men are between the ages of 17 and 35. Two are taxi drivers while other two are farmers.
According to the locals, people rubbing marijuana plants in the area, is a common sight. Some even come in cars. This year, they say that the number of people has increased.
This is the first arrest made in the area by the Monggar police.
