The office of the Returning Officer in Tsirang received 1,583 postal ballot applications from 11th of last month until yesterday. Of that, 373 applications have been rejected.
The Returning Officer, Ugyen Dorji, said the applications were rejected because of errors made in filling in the forms. “Some hadn’t given their postal addresses. Others had entered incorrect VPIC number. And some forms were incomplete. The details of the competent witness were also missing,” he said.
The office of the Returning Officer is now sending out postal ballot forms to the successful applicants. And those whose applications have been rejected will now have to go in person to their respective polling stations to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, in Haa, a total of 563 have applied for postal ballots. Of that, 104 applications have been rejected.
The Returning officer said many were rejected because they were not registered as postal voters.
Some did not give details of competent witness.
