Thimphu City FC’s captain Orgyen Wangchuk Tshering has embarked on a new chapter in his career after signing with Bangladesh Police FC, a team in the Bangladesh Premier League. The attacking midfielder will remain with the club until the end of the season, marking his first experience with an international side.
Orgyen began playing football at the age of six and earned his place in Bhutan’s national team in 2017, when he was just 17 years old.
Since then, he has represented the country in numerous regional and international tournaments.
Before joining Bangladesh Police FC, the 25-year-old midfielder spent a decade with Thimphu City FC.
“What motivated me to join Bangladesh Police FC was the fact that I wanted a new challenge, and I wanted to test myself in a new environment. Moving forward, I wanted to contribute to the team’s success and hopefully become the champions of the Bangladesh Premier League by the end of the season. Hopefully, it can open doors for other Bhutanese players to come and play in the Bangladesh Premier League in the future.”
He officially signed the contract a week ago.
“I want to give a special shout-out to Confianza Sport Management, which is a sports agency based in Bangladesh. They initially contacted me and asked me if I was interested in the Bangladesh Premier League after the Bangladesh football federation had announced that SAFF players would now be treated as local players instead of foreign players.”
Bangladesh Police FC competes in the top tier of Bangladeshi football, the Bangladesh Premier League, which is set to kick off by the mid of next month.
