Phasing out of examinations for primary students, doing away with Saturday classes and waiving off cut-off point for class ten are expected to be high on agenda at the 19th National Education Conference.
The conference kicked off on Monday.
Close to 200 participants, including educationist, Dzongkhag and Thromde Education Officers, principals and teachers are gathered in Phuentsholing for the conference.
“We will be talking about doing away with Saturday classes and cut-off point and shifting to formative examination process for classes PP to five,” Education minister Jai Bir Rai said.
Themed Redefining Education: Towards Quality and Inclusive Education, the conference will see the participants draw a common understanding of the implementation of the 12th Five Year Plan of the education sector.
The conference will see discussions on making necessary revision in the existing education guidelines.
The education minister hopes the discussions would make pathways for changing the direction of education in the country.
