Five stabbing cases in Phuentshogling

There were five stabbing cases in Phuentshogling in the last couple of months. Of the five, two succumbed to the injuries.

A 26-year-old man from Gomtu was fatally stabbed, last Friday. He was found by the bank of Amochhu, barely conscious. The police took him to the hospital immediately but he could not survive. The details of the incident are still unclear.

The police say they do not have any evidence to nab the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

A similar case was reported in November, last year.

A 51-year-old salesman was stabbed to death inside a store the heart of Phuentshogling town. Police say they haven’t been able to apprehend the main suspect as he is outside their jurisdiction in India. They said they are collaborating with the Indian Police to get to the suspect.

Of the three remaining cases, two also sustained major injuries and they had to be referred to the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu.

Sources say the stabbing cases are mostly due to alcohol.
