Phuentshogling becoming less crime-ridden town

CrimeRate-Pling-DropsThe number of crimes reported in Phuentshogling has decreased by 28 percent as compared to last year, states the third quarterly report compiled by the Royal Bhutan Police. The decrease is attributed to intensive mass patrolling and various crime preventive measures put in place by the police.

Until September this year, the number of crimes reported stood at 170. Last year the number stood at 239 for the same time frame.

Burglary, larceny and auto-stripping top the list as the most common crimes reported. A total of 82 such crimes have been reported this year, a decrease by about 32 percent as compared to the previous year.

The Phuentshogling Police say the introduction of door to door crime sensitisation programme, distribution of pamphlets on auto-stripping prevention tips and launching of Friends of Police have substantially contributed in crime control.

Meanwhile, the overall crime rate under Division three, one of the southern divisions, have also decreased by almost 34 percent. The Division covers seven police stations from Tsimasham to Lhamoizingkha. As per the report, only 148 vehicle accidents in these seven police stations were reported against 242 in 2012.
