Class X results out, cutoff point at 61.4%

CLass-X-ToppersJambay Kinley of Dagapela Middle Secondary School has topped the Class X examinations with 95 percent. Following very closely with 94.60 percent, Sherab Dorji of Samtengang Middle Secondary School came second.

The third position is a tie between Sonam Tshomo and Diviya Chhetri, both from Motithang Higher Secondary School. They obtained 94 percent.

The results were officially declared at a press conference this morning.

The Department of School Education says the cutoff point for admission to Class XI in government schools has been decided at 61.40 percent. This would mean the students would have to have an aggregate of 307 marks in English and four best subjects.

The Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment says the cutoff point was decided in keeping with the existing policy of admitting a minimum of 40 percent class X passed students, which is 4,435 students, annually.

Students can also access individual results through SMS. B-Mobile users may type R10 followed by Index number and send to 3333. Those using TashiCell, type index number and send to 4040.

Ten thousand, four hundred and one students (10,401) from 84 middle and higher secondary schools including three private schools sat for the examination. Of this, 96.86 percent, which is ten thousand and seventy four students (10,074), have passed.
