His Holiness the Je Khenpo appointed Sonam Tshering as the Lam of the Monastic school in Kabji in Punakha. Sonam Tshering, 31, is from Tsimakha in Chhukha. He joined the Punthim Dratshang at the age of 11 and studied in various Buddhist schools in the country including Dechenphodrang Shedra and Tango Buddhist College.
Lam Sonam Tshering has also studied under several renowned Buddhist Lams and scholars including Je Thrizur Tenzin Dendup.
