Coinciding with the World Immunization Week, 750 people including 90 children in Laya Gewog of Gasa were immunized against polio, measles and rubella. They were between 9 months to 45 years old.
The week was observed from April 24 to 30.
The health officials from Gasa and Laya Basic Health Unit carried out the program. The week was observed on the theme “Protected together: Vaccines works!” with the financial support from UNICEF and WHO.
According to the District Health Officer, this year, the immunization week was observed in Laya to increase the reach of immunization coverage and also layaps have limited access to health facilities as they spend most of their time herding cattle in the highlands.
