The three-day annual Punakha Domche concluded today with Nob Chu Shag Ni or the symbolic immersion of the sacred relic of Rangjung Kharsa Pani into the Mochhu. The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, and their Royal Highnesses attended the last day of Punakha Domche.

Thousands of people from across the country and tourists attended the Domche.

During the final day, mask dances of Dochhula Tshechhu were also performed.  Pazaps or warriors from the Wang Tsho-Chen-Gyed enacted the ancient military scenes of the 17th century.

Punakha Dromche is dedicated to the guardian deities Mahakala and Pelden Lhamo. Meanwhile, the three-day Punakha Tshechu will begin from tomorrow. The Tshechu will depict the entire history of Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyal.
