Tax payment facility through mBoB launched

If you are a mBoB user, you will now not have to stand in long queues to pay your tax. You can instead pay it via mBoB, which is a mobile and agency banking app of the Bank of Bhutan (BoB).

The Bank of Bhutan (BoB) in collaboration with the Department of Revenue and Customs (DRC) of the finance ministry launched this new tax payment facility through mBoB today.

Currently, taxpayers can file their tax online using the DRC’s online tax filing system called revenue and administration management information system (RAMIS), but the payment cannot be done online.

Taxpayers have to make the payment at the cash counters of the Department of Revenue and Customs or banks.

But now with the launch of the new service, taxpayers can easily pay taxes via mBoB after generating the Deposit (DV) number through RAMIS.

The new facility will save time and money for both taxpayers and the DRC.

It is also expected to encourage people to pay their taxes on time. “People don’t have time to stand in line, so such a service is not just about convenience. It’s becoming more of a necessity now,” BoB’s CEO Pema N. Nadik said.

This new facility is in addition to the tax payment system through BoB’s internet banking introduced a few years back.

“The number of people using mobile banking is much higher than the number of people using internet banking. So, it’s logical that we introduce this service,” the CEO added.

The Bank of Bhutan launched its mobile and agency banking app mBoB in May 2015. The app now boasts of over 80,000 registered users.
