The People’s Democratic Party is mulling over 18 names even as speculations mount as to who will be appointed ministers. BBS spoke to some people and the names of 14 heavyweights came up who could possibly form the cabinet.
Based on PDP’s first 100 days of office promises, which says the Prime Minister will also assume the portfolio of at least one ministry to ensure that there is no need to have too many ministers, PDP’s President, Tshering Tobgay, could take up the one of the ministries apart from the Prime Minister.
Damcho Dorji of Khatoed-Laya may take over as the Foreign Minister and Lekey Dorji of Bardo-Trong the Minister of Economic Affairs.
MP-elect from Monggar, Jigme Zangpo, is likely to assume the post of Education Minister while his counterpart from Thrimshing, Dorji Choden could take over as the Minister for Works and Human Settlement.
Norbu Wangchuk from Kanglung-Samkhar-Udzorong is likely to take over as Finance Minister and Yeshey Dorji of Maenbi-Tsaenkhar from Lhuentse could be the next Agriculture Minister.
Namgay Dorji from Draagteng-Langthil constituency or Yogesh Tamang from Kilkhorthang-Mendrelgang could take up Minister for Labour and Human Resources.
Chhimi Dorji from Lingmukha-Toedwang is speculated to take over Health Ministry. Rinzin Dorje of Shompangkha Constituency in Sarpang could be appointed as the Home minister.
Ritu Raj Chhetri, the MP-elect of Tashichhoeling in Samtse is speculated to take over the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Dewathang-Gomdar‘s MP-elect, Mingbo Dukpa is likely to become the Speaker and Tek Bahadur Subba, the Deputy Speaker of National Assembly.
Names of MP-elects from Kabisa-Talog, Dophu Dukpa, Bongo-Chapchha’s Dawa Gyeltshen, DN Dhungyel of Phuentshogpelri and Ngeema Sangay Tshempo from Lhamoi Dzingkha-Trashiding have also come up.
