Entertainment business like Drayangs and snooker rooms will not be allowed in Tsirang. The decision to prohibit such entertainment outlets was taken during the 26th Dzogkhag Yargay Tshogdue (DYT), held this week.
The decision, not to allow such business, comes at a time when Drayangs in the country are facing numerous criticisms. Considering its negative impact, the DYT members strongly objected opening of such business in the Dzongkhag.
The decision not to allow such business was taken during the 25th DYT session last year. The session this time upheld its decision.
“If we allow people to operate such business even after we have decided not to allow, then more people will open such business in the future. Then our decision will be useless,” said Barshong Geog Mangmi,
A Drayang was opened in Damphu town about two months ago but was closed by the Dzongkhag. The Drayang has been in business for about two month.
“It was decided in the 25th DYT session that Drayangs will not be allowed in Dzongkhag. But about a month ago, a Drayang was found operating in the town,” Sergithang Geog Mangmi said.
“It will be better not to have the Drayangs. All sorts of problem arise because of such business,” said Dunglagang Geog Mangmi.
But the question is for how long will they be able to prohibit such entertainment business in the Dzongkhag.
