Lack of space to keep saved animals is one of the main challenges faced while trying to save the lives of animals destined for slaughter. This was raised during the 2nd annual meeting of Drukyul Karzay Tshethar Tshogpa in Thimphu, yesterday.
The Association currently has 200 animals living in its sanctuary in Gelegphu. But the facility, according to its members, will soon run out of space against the increasing number of people joining to contribute for the cause.
“It’s difficult to manage when the animal population increases. So, one way to address this issue is if people could consider becoming vegetarian. This will not only help us but also in contribute to prevailing peace and prosperity in the country,” shared the Tshogpa’s Chairperson, Lama Drimed Yoesel.
Formed in 2015, the Drukyul Karzay Tshethar Tshogpa today has more than 3,000 registered members.
To advocate on their objectives, the association plans to organise religious talks for students and public as well.
Over 30 representatives of the Association from across the country took part in the annual meeting.
