A private sawmill in Gelegphu was saved from being completely gutted by fire, in the early hours this morning. Eye witnesses said timely intervention by the police, local people and the Thromde Office saved the sawmill.
The fire burnt a few machineries. The extent of damage is not known as yet.
The fire which started around 2:20am was brought under control within an hour.
Police suspect embers from the boiler unit that runs 24 hours for steam production to be the cause of the fire. This is the second fire incident at the sawmill.
