ACC issues notice to freeze land transactions

(Update): The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has yet again issued a notice to freeze land and flat transactions of two individuals in connection with Phuentshogling custom case.

Section 107 of ACC Act states, the commission can seize immovable property if it is satisfied on information obtained that any immovable property is the subject matter of an offence or evidence of the commission of such offence.

On Monday, the Anti-Corruption Commission had frozen seven bank accounts belonging to individuals and business firms in Phuentshogling in connection with the same case.

The account holders have been suspected of colluding with custom officials and Bhutanese counterparts to evade taxes by wrongly declaring the goods imported.
