MoH monitoring the recovered individuals for any sign of reinfection

An increasing number of people are getting infected with Coronavirus but the recovery rate is also rising across the globe. Similarly, in Bhutan, the recovery rate stands at 84 per cent without a single fatality. But there still is a fear among the public for reinfection.

Health Minister Dechen Wangmo, during the press brief this afternoon, said there is no conclusive evidence of whether the recovered patient gets re-infected. However, the ministry is monitoring and taking care of those recovered patients in the country.

“Medically we can’t confirm whether there will be re-infection or not but currently many say there won’t be re-infection and few of those re-infected cases are outliers. More importantly, we don’t know anything concrete about the virus so, we have to focus on what we know that is adhering to all the preventive measures.  And for those who have recovered in our country, the Health Ministry monitors them, constantly contact them and take care of them as well,” Lyonpo said.
