Thimphu residents swarm at BOD for a share of kerosene

Shortage of kerosene at the capital for the last few days led to a huge rush at the Bhutan Oil Distributor’s retail outlet in Thimphu, today. Many people, with their empty Jerry cans, queued at the outlet uncertain of getting their share of fuel.

Guidelines to cover women and children launched

All the media houses in the country will now have a guideline while reporting on issues related to women and children. Bhutan Media Foundation in collaboration with the National Commission for Women and Children and other media houses developed the guidelines.

Former Thimphu Thrompon, Kinlay Dorjee is the lone candidate contesting for the post of Thimphu Thrompon. Of the 137 voters from the Babesa Constituency, 133 voters nominated him. Other six constituencies, within the thromde, have no candidates.

Chhukha Dzongkhag Court changes verdict of immigration officials

Chhukha Dzongkhag Court changed the imprisonment period, of the seven immigrations officials, from three years non-compoundable to one year compoundable. It means the officials can pay in lieu of imprisonment which was not the case earlier.
