Class XII English Paper II left unevaluated

The English Paper II of class XII has been left unevaluated even though the evaluations of middle and higher secondary board examination papers have begun.

The decline of pressing mustard oil traditionally

Blooming mustard flowers turned Zhemgang gloriously yellow, every winter. For the locals, the blooming flowers were sign of bountiful harvest. They had even worked out a method of pressing mustard oil from the seeds.

Eye Camp draws hundred in Samtse

Trongsa Tshechu begins

The annual Trongsa Tshechu began today. The monks performed mask dances on the first day of the five-day Tshechu. The laymen performed Shachham, Dramitsengachham, Rakshamangchham, and paw. Hundreds of devotees from Trongsa and neighbouring dzonkhags, Zhemgang and Bumthang, came to witness the Tshechu. Hundred stalls, selling different food items, goods, and cloths have also been set-up outside the dzong. The Tshechu will end on January 2 next year, with the unfurling of Guru Tshengye Throngdel.

A family of three, a couple in their late thirties and their two-year-old son, died when their hut was razed to the ground at Jakar village in Bumthang.

Brothers sentenced for attempting to transact contraband substance

The Tsirang District Court sentenced two brothers attempting to transact illegal substance. The older brother, 41, will have to serve a prison term of five years and the 21-year-old younger brother, 18 months.
