Myth or geography- no solutions at sight

Every monsoon, a stream that runs between Rinchending and Pasakha road in Phuentsholing wreaks havoc. Fed by rain water, the stream called Bownijhora, causes destructions in the area and poses threat to the lives and properties of people living nearby.

People awaits BHU construction completion

People of Zhemgang and nearby villages of Trongsa need not have to travel all the way to Tingtibi or Gelephu hospital when the construction of a new grade 1 Basic Health Unit, BHU, is complete. At the moment, the existing BHU refers all serious cases to Gelephu and Tingitbi hospitals.

Team Damchen won the 2012 Coronation Silver Jubilee Archery tournament. They defeated Green team in the finals today. The winning team members received a washing machine each, while the Green team players won a 21 inch LCD Television set each.

Lack of water compels farmers to leave land fallow

Paddy is the main crop grown by the people of Zhichathang village under Senge Gewog in Sarpang. However, lack of irrigation water has forced the people to leave half of their land fallow. Our reporter, Phurba, who visited the Gewog recently says that the village has large tracts of paddy field but no water to cultivate paddy.

Number doubles at Draktsho East Centre

The number of disabled students joining the Draktsho East Centre at Rongthong in Trashigang has been increasing over the years. The Centre was established in 2010 with less than 30 students but the number of student has now doubled.

Row over lease land in Darla, Chhukha

Five households of Rinchentse village under Darla Gewog have been complaining against Chhukha Dzongkhag over a leased land.  They say that they have been neither paid the lease payment for three years nor provided with substitute land for their wet land leased to Tala Hydro Project Authority (THPA), in 1997. The wet land was leased as a camp site of the Project.
