More women come forward to deliver in BHU in Daagsa

The number of women delivering babies at the Daagsa BHU in Monggar has increased manifold since the Basic Health Unit with a delivery room was constructed in 2007. Prior to that, women mostly gave birth at home. Most of the women gave birth at home with the health assistants visiting the houses in some cases.

JICA expert solves Bumthang’s IT problems

Fujio Mawatari, 27, has come to the rescue. After the arrival of this Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) volunteer last October Bumthang Dzongkhag administration no more had to request for IT professionals from Thimphu to fix when a computer broke down. Earlier, this was the situation and it would take days and months to fix their computers.

Drukair hit by a bird, grounded in Delhi

The Drukair flight KB 204 has been stranded at Indra Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi today. The plane was hit by a bird on the leading edge of the right side flap on the final approach to the airport. The bird hit has made a dent of around 22 by 10 centimetres.

Class XII results out, Science tops

The results for Bhutan Higher Secondary Examination Certificate for class XII were declared today. In science stream, Pema Wangdi from Jigme Sherbuling Higher Secondary School in Khaling, Trashigang and Karma Tenzin from Ugyen Academy Higher Secondary School came first with 88.50%.

U-19 Women’s Cricket team leaves for Kuwait

The Under 19 Women’s Cricket team left for Kuwait to participate in the Asian Cricket Council U-19 Women’s Championship for 2012 today. This is the third time Bhutan’s team is participating in the ACC championship.

Boys arrested for stealing Oxen

Three 16 years boys were arrested by Gelephu police for stealing three oxen yesterday. The cattle were stolen on Sunday afternoon from Barshong village under Sershong Gewog.
