Political corruption needed to be addressed immediately otherwise it will weaken the very essence of democracy. This was the concern raised by National Council members yesterday. The discussion came up while discussing the Anti-Corruption Report 2012, which reflected a few cases related to political corruption.
The Good Governance Committee urged the Council for a need to assess on the risk that the country was exposed to due to political corruption. The Committee also said there was a need to identify appropriate measures to stop corruption in politics. Most of the members said the Election Act should be implemented strictly.
