The National Council endorsed the National Assembly Amendment Bill 2014, today. On the resignation clause, the house decided that an elected member who submits voluntary resignation letter before assuming the office or the expiry of the term will now have to reimburse the total electoral expenditure in that particular constituency.
The National Assembly had earlier decided that an elected member have to reimburse the general elections campaign fund if they submit the voluntary resignation letter before assuming the office.
However, the clause that states an elected MP will not have to refund in case of physical disability and mental incapacity stays the same.
