The Prime Minister, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley inaugurated the Ngajurwesel Dongarepai Jungneyling Shedra at Tharpaling in Bumthang on Thursday.
Lyonchhen said that the Shedra would groom many spiritual personalities for the well-being of the people in the country.
Located some 42 kilometres from Chamkhar, the Sherdra was constructed at the cost of over Nu. 10 million.
One of the former students of the Shedra, Lopen Nado, is the architect and provided fund for the construction.
The history of this Shedra dates back to as early as 12th century. It was founded by Kuenkhen Longchen Ramjam, a Tibetan Buddhist Scholar, who first introduced Nyingma tradition in Bhutan.
The new Shedra will house about 30 monks.
