Price of goods and services in the country remained more or less stable since early last year. In fact, the economy recorded one of its lowest inflation in the last two years.
Bhutan’s consumer inflation decreased further in the first quarter this year. Prices increased by only 3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2015.
Global market conditions continue to remain favorable with increased global fuel supply followed by reduction in prices. Decrease in global fuel price was the major reason for decreased food prices across the world.
Two years ago, Bhutan’s consumer inflation averaged close to 13 percent.
