Bhutan is now a member of the Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Thimphu was launched at the Convention Centre in Thimphu, on April 30.
Rotary Club of Thimphu was formed with 35 Charter founding members with the Home and Cultural Affairs Minister as the Charter President.
The Club of Thimphu will strive to focus on strengthening fellowship, improve life in the community, expand the Rotary’s humanitarian reach through services including youth programmes, promote world understanding and peace, and encourage Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
In more than 34,000 clubs worldwide, Rotarians volunteer in communities at home and abroad to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation among others.
Rotary’s 1.2 million members believe it starts with a commitment to Service Above Self.
The Rotary Club was founded in 1905.
