Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering while responding to questions on a Facebook Live session on Friday said that the government has ordered vaccines for lumpy skin disease, which has been causing cattle losses in recent months. The Livestock Department is currently working on the shipment of over 300,000 vaccines from Turkey.
The lumpy skin disease has affected cattle in almost all the districts affecting the livelihoods of those relying on them. A recent case in Thimphu’s Dagala Gewog resulted in the death of about 80 yaks and affected more than 400.
