PM returns home after a three-day visit to India

Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay is back in the country today after a three-day official visit to New Delhi in India.

He met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderbad House yesterday.

During the meeting, he conveyed deep appreciation of the people and the Royal Government of Bhutan for the Indian government’s generous assistance to Bhutan in the 11th Five Year Plan.

The two prime ministers also discussed other areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a lunch in the honour of Dasho Tshering Tobgay.

Later in the evening, Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay met with Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

He thanked the Indian government for the warm reception accorded to His Majesty The King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey during the Royal visit to India last year.

During the visit, Dasho Tshering Tobgay also met with the President of Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and a few other cabinet ministers.

The Prime Minister was in India at the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister.

The visit is a part of the tradition of regular high-level exchange of visits between Bhutan and India. It is also a part of the ongoing celebrations to mark 50 years of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.
