Ugen Trading House Women’s Super League gets underway

The Ugen Trading House Women’s Super League kicked is underway in Thimphu since Sunday. Eight teams are taking part in the competition, this time.

In the opening match, the Sunrise Women’s football team defeated the Thimphu City’s women team 4-0 in Changlimithang National Stadium.

Similarly, the Mandala FC also managed to earn three points as they defeated Thimphu FC 3-0.

Yesterday, the U-16 girls of Gelephu Academy played their first match of the tournament. They went one on one against the Druk United FC girls. However, the Druk United girls were of no match to U-16 girls as they were thrashed with a goal score of 16-0.

The U-16 girls believe the ongoing tournament will help them get used to the ground for the upcoming SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship in Bhutan.

“Our practice for the tournament is going well. We are undergoing training twice a day and the ongoing women’s tournament will help us be more familiar with the ground for the upcoming SAFF championship,” said Deki Lhazom, National Player, U-16 Gelegphu Academy.

In the second match yesterday, the women’s team of BFF Academy FC defeated Tensung Bum’s FC. The league tournament ends on July 31.
