BKP’s candidate for Dophuchen-Tading Constituency in Samtse is Sajan Rai, 25. He is the youngest candidate in the party. He has a bachelor’s degree in sustainable development, and worked as an Assistant Programme Officer under the school and health nutrition division of Department of School Education, Ministry of Education.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and worked as an NIIT instructor in Yadi Higher Secondary School. BKP’s Vice President, Sonam Tobgay, in an interview to BBS said: “We have four plus candidates, who served as government secretaries. We have a good mix of youth, women and men, well experienced. We have given good opportunity to youth and a good proportion of women. We take both women and youth seriously.”

The Vice President also said the candidates were given party tickets based on the party’s strict selection criteria.

“BKP has covered numerous constituencies and travelled to 15 districts, and when poverty and hardship stare at us, we consider it as a biggest source of inspiration as to how one must work harder towards nation building.”

Sharing about how prepared the party is for the upcoming assembly elections, the Vice President said, “Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party is inspired despite the hardship that we have encountered in the familiarisation tours both in east and the south. But we will work hard and will contest the election with smiles and encouragement.”

BKP has announced 46 candidates so far. The remaining one will be revealed soon, says the Vice President, who also highlighted that the party’s annual convention will be held on July 21.
