Rephey-Khoshila bypass construction completed

The construction of Rephey-Khoshila bypass in Langthil Gewog in Trongsa is now complete. However, the Department of Road (DoR) office in Trongsa says the road would open to traffic only after the construction of two bridges on the route is complete.

“The construction of the bridge near Dangdung will be complete by July and the Yurmong Bridge is scheduled for completion early next year,” Phuntsho, an Assistant Engineer with Khosila DoR office, said.

Once this double lane bypass opens to traffic, people travelling from Trongsa to Zhemgang and Gelephu and vice versa will not have to take the present route via Langthil town.

The travel time will be reduced by an hour and a half.

The construction of the Rephey-Khoshila bypass began in 2012 with a fund of about half a billion ngultrum from the India government.
