His Holiness the Je Khenpo donates ambulances to health ministry

Seven ambulances were donated today. The purification ceremony of the new ambulances was performed by His Holiness the Je Khenpo at Tendrelthang in Thimphu.

The hospitals in Monggar, TrashiYangtse, Lhuntse, Pema Gatshel and Samtse will get an ambulance; while Punakha hospital will receive two. The seven new ambulances were committed by the devotees of His Holiness the Je Khenpo, who had earlier offered six ambulances.

Spacious with well set-up facilities, these ambulances will cater to the health services during emergencies.

“We have ambulance coverage in hospitals across the country and this will supplement to the existing 111 ambulances.” said the Deputy Chief Programme Officer with Emergency Medical Service Division, Wangchuk Dukpa. “Devotees from ex-countries offered to His Holiness the Je Khenpo and to benefit people across the country, His Holiness is donating it to us. We offer our sincere gratitude to His Holiness the Je Khenpo,” he said.

The ambulances will be dispatched to the designated hospitals by end of this month. The approximate cost for each ambulance is about Nu 1.1m including transportation charges.
