12 books about Buddhism and Bhutanese history launched

The research group of Tango Buddhist University has written 10 books about Buddhism and the history of Bhutan over the past two years. The books were launched on Saturday.

Two other books published by Shedras were also released at the event.

The university says the books would be of interest to anyone. “Everyone can use these books. For example, there is a book about our country and religion and we hope the youth would find it interesting,” Khenpo Nima Shar of Tango Buddhist University said.

“Then there’s a book about funeral rites and this would be of interest to the adult readers. There are also books about Namthar, which we hope would be resourceful for researchers.”

Khenpo added the books were written realising the importance of keeping the country’s history alive for all times to come.  It is also to encourage the youth and the monks.

The research group of Tango Buddhist University was formed two years ago to carry out extensive research in the field of Buddhist studies.
