The worker injured in the gas explosion inside the tunnel of Nyera Amachu Hydropower Project in Samdrup Jongkhar is reported to be in critical condition.
He is undergoing treatment in Down Town Hospital Limited of Guwahati in the Indian State of Assam.
The hospital says the 26-year-old man has suffered 50-60 per cent burns, which has led to septic shock and Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS).
The man is in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Meanwhile, the bodies of the four dead were recovered around 5pm yesterday. The bodies could not be retrieved on Friday since the tunnel was still filled with harmful gases.
DeSuups, Dzongkhag and Dungkhag officials and local volunteers helped in the recovery efforts.
The Dzongkhag Kidu Office has granted Royal Semso to the families of the deceased.
