New Sarpang district court inaugurated

In the absence of an independent court building, Sarpang court officials endured challenges of congestion and lack of facilities, but not anymore.

They now have a new court building, which was formally inaugurated yesterday by Chief Justice Tshering Wangchuk.

The newly built district court is spacious and equipped with modern facilities.

It has separate office spaces for the judges, a conference hall, security room and a library. The court also has separate detention and record rooms.

Court officials say all these facilities will help in serving the people better.

The court also has facilities in place to provide privacy to litigants, especially juveniles and women.

Standing on a 2.78 acre land, the court was constructed at a cost of more than Nu 20 m. It was funded by the government.
