Bad road leading to core Damphu town frustrates motorists

The one-way road connecting the core Damphu Town in Tsirang is in terrible condition.

Motorists are frustrated for being greeted by potholes and bearing the brunt of heavy jerking for three years now. The motorway was rehabilitated during the Financial Year 2014-15. Post that, the road was never repaired.

“Three years is long.  We must enjoy good public amenities and one of them is roads. We need better road condition,” said one of the residents, KP Sharma.

Others also shared inconveniences faced while traveling along the route. “It is high time the road is repaired.  At the moment, we have to exercise extreme caution while driving on this road,” shared another resident, Jamtsho to BBS News. “During monsoon, rain gets clogged in potholes and when we drive over it, we fear the water might soak the pedestrians, which is against law.”

The Damphu Municipal Office reasons that shortage of funds has hindered them to repair the road. Even finding daily wage labourers to fill up the potholes has been challenging.

However, despite setbacks, municipal has set out plans to repair potholes and carried out other maintenance works that are doable after monsoon.
