‘Teacher of Year Award’- no nominations yet

People from all around the country can now nominate teachers for the “Teacher of the Year Award”.

The Education Ministry has launched the award, especially to dedicate to the teachers, who has served for at least five years, and has made the most contribution through their selfless services and initiatives towards the Nation.
The theme this year is chosen as “Culture and Value.” The Ministry of Education has not received a single nomination till date.

However, the ministry still hopes to receive the nomination before 17th September.

Speaking to BBS the Education Minister, Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel, said it was very important for every individual to take part in nominating the teachers. “We want best of our teachers and best to our teachers. So we thought it is high time for us to reflect on what our teachers are doing and do something about,” said the Minister.

The Ministry has drawn up comprehensive set of criteria. “This basically is to do with the intellectual, personal and GNH criteria,” said the Lyonpo, adding that this year the focus would be on how the teachers are imparting value education to the children.
