The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assured the Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) of support in developing cricketing infrastructure in the country.
The decision was reached at a meeting between the two boards in Mumbai, India yesterday.
The Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB), represented by the president and the secretary, met with the BCCI secretary and sought assistance in developing cricket in Bhutan.
The BCCI secretary, Amitabh Chaudhary, was quoted saying to the ANI News that they will support betterment of cricket in all 20 districts.
The development assurances include sending coaches, fitness trainers, physios, and all other support that the BCCI can render.
The BCCI also assured help in getting additional financial assistance from the Asian Cricket Council in their next meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The ANI News also reported that the BCCI would organize competitive exhibition matches in Bhutan to promote the game.
Technical experts from the BCCI will study the existing grounds in the country and its terrain to see what further can be done.
Bhutan, today, has more than 12,000 youths engaged in grassroots cricket.
