98 arrested for alleged drug trafficking and abuse in Thimphu

From January 1- March 14, this year, Thimphu Police arrested 98 people for allegedly involving in trafficking of narcotic drugs and substance abuse.

Police seized 14,898 spasmo proxyvon (SP) plus capsules along with 2.5 kgs of dried marijuana leaves, 27 kgs of fresh marijuana leaves, over 10 grams of marijuana hashes, and some solvent items from the suspects.

Police officials said, of the total 98 arrested individuals, 71 including 57 youth and two women have been handed over to the Bhutan Narcotics Control Authority (BNCA) for treatment. And remaining 27 have been detained for trafficking of controlled substances.

Police said, to tackle drug cases, they are trying to curb supply.
