BAOWE opens an eatery to strengthen women entrepreneurship

The Bhutan Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAOWE) opened an eatery named “Nangyi-Aum Bhutanese Restaurant” opposite Jigme Namgyel Lower Secondary School in upper Motithang, Thimphu today.

The establishment is meant to encourage women entrepreneurs in the country. BAOWE Officials said, “Usually women in rural pockets of the country have limited ideas when it comes to income generation. Although, they own a land, they don’t explore ways to cash in by doing commercial farming.”

So, BAOWE will help its members across the country to sell their vegetables and dairy products to the restaurant. This way, the CSO, primarily focused on empowering women through entrepreneurship is hopeful, their members in the villages become more business savvy.

The BAOWE endeavours to have a just and equitable in which women recognise their strengths and become successful, empowered entrepreneurs, leading meaning lives as responsible and responsive citizens of the country. It came into existence in 2010.
