Their Majesties, HRH Gyalsey visit Taktsang and celebrate His Majesty’s birthday at RBA’s Commando Wing in Shaba

To mark the 38th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King, Their Majesties and His Royal Highness the Gyalsey visited Paro Taktsang

To mark the 38th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King, Their Majesties and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey visited Paro Taktsang yesterday morning to offer prayers. It was His Royal Highness The Gyalsey’s first visit to Taktsang.

Considered as one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the country, the temple complex surrounding the sacred cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century has been built by various Buddhist masters over the centuries.

His Majesty The King later spent the evening of the special day at Royal Bhutan Army’s Commando Wing at Shabha in Paro with the soldiers and officers that make Bhutan’s first ever contingent for the United Nations peace keeping operations.

The country’s contingent is at a Rapid Deployment Level, meaning UN Peace Keeping unit is now ready to be deployed to a mission area within 60 days of deployment notice from the United Nations.

Bhutan has been participating in UN peacekeeping operations since 2014. Over 82 peacekeepers have successfully served at various UN peacekeeping missions around the world so far.

Retired Armed Forces personnel, and DeSuups of Paro also joined in the celebration.
