His Majesty graced the last day of Khandro Kongshag Tshechu

His Majesty The King graced the last day of Khandro Kongshag Tshechu at Tsakaling Samten Choeling Monastery in Monggar, yesterday.

Over a thousand people from Monggar and Lhuentse gathered at the courtyard of Samten Choeling Monastery to witness the festival and meet His Majesty. The local festival is held at the monastery after every three years.

Khandro Kongshag or Dakini fulfillments and confessions is held to dismiss adversity and avert misfortunes through confessions and appeasement of Lama Yidam Khandro and Choechong for breaking and transgressing vows,  and commitments that people may have committed.

Sacred mask dances such as Rigma Chudruk, Sachag Hom, Phag Chham, and Sangye Lingpai Nga Chham were performed during the festival. Tsakaling Samten Choeling Monastery in Tsakaling Gewog is the seat of Peling tradition. Lama Tenzin Dhendup founded the monastery some four centuries ago.

His Majesty The King also granted tokha to the people congregated to witness the festive occasion. In the evening, His Majesty granted an Audience to the dzongkhag officials of Monggar which was also attended by gups of the dzongkhag.

His Majesty is on a royal tour to the eastern dzongkhags during which His Majesty will celebrate the Chunipa Losar or the traditional day of offering with the people of Trashi Yangtse.
